Honu Soulmates #2 (Large)

Petroglyph is a word that comes from the Greek words, "petras", for rock and 'glyphen", to carve. Literally, petroglyphs are rock carvings. The ancient Hawaiians called them ki'i pohaku or stone images.

Traditionally the Honu or Sea Turtle was an ancestral guardian for the ancient Hawaiian family. The honu connects us with our past as they are symbols of longevity and the ultimate navigators who return to the sands of their birth. They are the link between the old and the new.

The back of the carving features a history of the petroglyph and a short artist bio. The piece is also signed and dated by the artist.

"This carving is made from Chinese Quartzite and has a beautiful warm colors with hints of green. There is a textured grain to the stone which runs horizontal across the piece."
