Island Bamboo
If you have a lighter colored frame (like light
colored wood or gold colored frame) then go with a
darker matboard (like the Black/Gold). This will
look better with the increased contrast from the
light frame to the dark matboard.
If you have a dark frame, then go with a lighter
colored matboard (like the cream/black). This will
look better with the increased contrast from the
dark frame to the light matboard.

"Bamboo is one of my favorite
subjects to paint because it allows me a great
sense of freedom. I do not use reference
photographs when painting bamboo and really enjoy
the simplicity of the piece.
I kept the color palette limited to 3 warm colors.
The beauty of the Alkyd paints reveals itself in
it's jewel like colors. There is some light ink
cross hatching as well. I am very pleased with
this painting."
