Lokahi
This
original painting features three textured panels.
The flowing curved panel shapes cast shadows on
the wall and adds visual depth to the painting.
The painting is titled "Lokahi" which means Unity
in Hawaiian.
The subject matter has Two Honu petroglyphs
(Sea Turtle in Hawaiian is called Honu). This
piece is easy to hang and only requires one
standard picture frame hook which is included.
Accompanying this piece is also a signed and
dated paintbrush that was used by Guy Junker in
the creation of the painting Lokahi.
In Guy's
exploration of ancient symbols created in a
contemporary style, the natural curves of the
petroglyph contrasted with hard geometric panel
shapes, this piece features
two different panel thicknesses with the sides of
the painting raised above the center curved
portion--a delicate balance between painting and
sculpture, a bridge between the ancient and modern.
"This painting has wonderful movement and I am
pleased with the overall shape of the piece.
The action painting (poured paint) adds nice
movement and a contemporary dimension to the
painting."
