Guy Junker is know for his innovative panel paintings
which are a delicate balance of painting and sculpture.
The geometric panel paintings are created on ridged wooden
panels (this is somewhat similar to way the old masters
painted on boards (panel) before the widespread use of
the more modern linen or cotton canvas).
"My art takes on many different variations. I enjoy
exploring different media but in the end I always
come back home to oil paining. I love the
flexibility of oil paints and the ample time that I
have to work the paint.
I now almost exclusively use Alkyds (pronounced "AL
KIDS") which are a fast drying oil paint. They are
still an oil based paint but dry in about 12 hours
so this allows me to get at least 1 layer of glazing
done each day. Most of my paintings have between
5-15 glazing layers which subtly develop and build
up the luminescent colors." Guy
