Radiance
This painting was created
on textured panels. The geometric shaped
panels are separate from each other and hang with
simple hooks. The "fractured" look mimics
actual cracks in stone, but is more geometric.
This is balanced by the curving lines of the honu
(turtle) petroglyphs.
There is wonderful texture
and color transitions throughout the piece.
This subtle color changes was accomplished through 8
layers of glazing (applying separate layers of
translucent color).
"When making the panels for this piece I had
intended to make the panels for a
Honu Shapes giclee.
However I had glued the panels backwards so the
shapes were reversed. This meant that I could
not use them for the Honu Shapes giclee....so I
painted a new original on them. This turned
out to be a wonderful mistake."
