The
Birds of Paradise
This original painting is
painted on textured panel and features a koa veneer
frame with silk scoop and metalic and koa filets.
The large koa wood profile has a transversal grain -
this means the grain runs the short direction which
is more unique and adds to the composition of the
piece. The frame was selected for this piece
by the artist.
"This is the very first bird of paradise
painting in a series. Lately I have been doing many
petroglyph and bamboo painting so it was a nice to
come back to a floral painting these Birds of
Paradise. The leaves are somewhat abstracted in a
pattern design with varying warm colors. I wanted to
blend some elements of realism with parts of pattern
and abstraction.."
